Character Design

The character story is set in O. Henry's short story " The Cop and the Anthem”
Given that the source material paints a picture of early 20th-century American society, the storyline is imbued with a subtle irony and a touch of dark humor, reminiscent of the noir aesthetic found in the film "Mary and Max." Drawing inspiration from the film's unique medium of clay animation, which inherently possesses a three-dimensional quality, we have incorporated its tactile and dimensional attributes into our characters. By utilizing a monochromatic palette, we have accentuated the distinctive features of the characters, thus adopting the film's black-and-white, three-dimensional visual style and applying it to our two-dimensional characters.
